Now it's time for you to experience using a wiki. There are three wiki creation tools commonly used in education - Wikispaces, PBworks (formerlly called pbWiki), and WetPaint. All offer ad-free space for educators. For this Thing, we will be using Wikispaces.

A. Edit the 23 Things Wiki
Go to LISD 23 Things wikispace at http://lisd23things.wikispaces.com/ We've already started a list of ideas for using wikis in education. Add another idea of your own. All you have to do is:
1. Click on "Edit this page."
2. Scroll down and click to place your insertion point at the end of the list. Press Enter/Return.
3. Add your contribution.
4. Click on "Save."
B. Create Your Own Wiki
First watch this video.
Then go to Wikispaces to create your account and your first wiki (free upgraded account for K-12 educators from this link). Once you've created an account with Wikispaces, you can create multiple wikis. Experiment with adding and formatting text, inserting links, images, and video. Here's how:
Try some of the other widgets too. Have fun - you can't break a wiki!
C. Reflect - Blog Prompts for Thing 22
In your blog post be sure to include the link to your wiki. Then discuss your feelings about using a wiki. How does a wiki differ from a blog? When is one more appropriate to use than the other?

Syllabus - Required: Page two (2) of Syllabus document to be printed, signed, and submitted no later than course due date and upon completion of requirements for SB-CEU or Grad credit. (Attached log sheets may be helpful for non-credit participants to track tasks, but are optional).
Online Documentation Log - REQUIRED FOR ALL CREDIT: Final Log to complete online at end of course, print, sign, and submit for certification of professional development hours completed online - Required for SB-CEU/Grad Credit upon completion of requirements
SHU Registration Form - see also page 2 of Syllabus
SHU Grad Credit Form/Requirements for Winter 2012 - Please note that to fulfill "attendance" requirement, a completed hard copy Time Log with your signature certifying completion of required "seat time" must be submitted at the end of the course to receive credit.
